At first, I thought it’s going to be a romantic drama like most of the turkish series. But this one caught me by surprise. It is arguably one of the best turkish series.
HALKA means “the ring” in english. Halka is a criminal organization with three ring symbols. This criminal network was working in shadows for many years and not a lot of people knew that such an organization exists. But now a group of policeman are chasing after the members of Halka to destroy the ring for good.
Halka series revolves around the group of people which have one thing in common that is they are victims of Halka. Two different young men Kaan and Cihangir coming together from different places stand side by side and fight against a conspiracy. Kaan and Cihangir are both unaware of certain things that Halka has been hiding from them and they Both have lot of questions about their past and in search of the answers they have to enter this organization and get to the one who is at The top, the one who controls all the things in Halka and Knows all the past secrets.
Halka is a paced, adventure-themed series with a lot of suspense and surprising twists and turns. In each episode the lead characters Kaan and Cihangir found something new about their past. Kaan who is also trying to find out who put him in prison for the crime he did not commit while Cihangir on the other hand has Insomnia and hallucinations in which he sees a man wearing a yellow suit is trying to tell him something related to his past. This part of a series makes the episodes somewhat like psychological thriller. I liked the way in which they show how Cihangir is dealing with this hallucinations and comes closer towards finding the truth about his past and he is now sure that someone has wiped some of his memory.
The series has many interesting characters like Terzi who is playing a man in yellow suit and also as Halka’s assasin. You will never know what Terzi can do in this series and with an amazing BGM for his character the scenes are more entertaining to watch. This series also shows some strong female characters like Mujde(played by Hande Ercel) who is a daughter of Iskender Akay who is also one of the member of Halka. Kaan’s mother Humeira Karabulut also plays an important role in all of the things happening in Halka.
Halka has been playing games with organization’s members and It also affected their family. The only way out is to destroy the ring (i.e. Halka) and to destroy the ring completely they have to get rid of all the secrets that Halka hold against their members.
Conclusion:-
It has a strong screenplay and amazing storyline. The cast has also played their respective characters very well. You may not see any powerpack action scenes but it still entertains the viewer with its amazing story and surprising moments. So if you like Crime Thrillers and mafia movies with lot of twists you should really watch this turkish drama named - “Halka”.
